At OVCC, we are building long-term learner infrastructure that connects education, opportunity, and future pathways. Every partnership we enter into must protect our learners, maintain platform trust, and preserve the independence of OVCC as an organisation.

Who We Are and What OVCC Does

Online Varsity College Connect (OVCC) is a South African EdTech platform built to support Grade 8–12 learners in achieving academic success, making informed subject and career choices, and accessing the educational opportunities they deserve.

Our platform connects learners with study resources, past examination materials, institution and university information, personalised career pathway guidance, and qualified tutors. We also provide a linked parent portal so families can stay informed and involved in a learner's progress.

Everything we build is centred on one goal: giving South African learners a better, more supported path to their future ,whether that is further study, a skilled career, or a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to them.

When we invite partners into this ecosystem, we are inviting them into a relationship of responsibility ,not just commercial opportunity. Partners must understand and genuinely share our commitment to learner wellbeing, data protection, and ethical educational practice.

Core Principles

Learner Data Is Protected ,Without Exception

OVCC does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer personal learner data to any third party ,regardless of the commercial value offered or the identity of the requesting party. This is not a negotiable term. It is a foundational commitment we make to every learner, parent, and institution that trusts us with their information.

We also do not enter into partnerships with any organisation that intends to acquire, monetise, or commercially exploit learner data through their relationship with OVCC ,directly or indirectly. If a potential partner is exploring how they might access our learner data, that conversation ends there.

All data practices comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), our published Privacy Policy, and OVCC's internal data governance standards.

Data Inquiries Require Formal NDA and Disclosure Agreements

In the course of a partnership, there may be legitimate operational reasons for a partner to need context on the categories or structure of data OVCC holds ,for example, to configure a technical integration or validate a compliance obligation. This is handled through a formal process, not through informal disclosure.

Before any information about OVCC's data assets, architecture, or learner profile categories is shared with a partner, both parties must execute:

A bilateral Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) governing the confidentiality of any information exchanged.
A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) or equivalent disclosure instrument that defines the specific scope, purpose, and permitted use of any information shared.
Written acknowledgment from the partner that OVCC data ,including any insight into the nature of the data we hold ,may not be used for purposes beyond those expressly agreed.

These agreements are non-optional. OVCC will not proceed with any data-related discussion ,however high-level ,without them in place.

Access Is Strictly Controlled and Purpose-Limited

Partners do not receive open or unrestricted access to learners, tutor profiles, or platform data under any circumstances. Where access is operationally necessary for a defined service, it is:

Limited to the minimum data required for the specific purpose.
Governed by a written agreement defining permitted use.
Time-bounded and revocable by OVCC at any point.
Subject to ongoing OVCC oversight and compliance review.

Consent and Learner Choice Come First

Any learner-facing opportunity, application visibility, or partner-facilitated service is based on clear user choice and ,where required ,explicit opt-in consent. Learners and families remain in control of what they access and what they share at all times.

Partners may not contact, market to, or otherwise engage learners directly without OVCC review and appropriate consent mechanisms being in place.

Every Partnership Must Have a Clear and Legitimate Purpose

We only enter into partnerships that serve a legitimate educational, operational, or opportunity-building purpose. Each partnership is documented, scope-limited, and aligned with OVCC's mission to support learners responsibly.

Partnerships that enrich the learner experience are what we actively pursue. This includes providers of tutoring, additional academic support, career guidance, scholarship access, university placement assistance, and other services that genuinely improve a learner's outcomes ,provided those services are delivered ethically, transparently, and with learner protection at the centre.

OVCC Remains Independent

No partner controls OVCC. All product decisions, learner relationships, and platform direction remain fully independent. Partnership terms may not grant any organisation influence over how the platform operates, what content is served, or how learner data is handled.

Open, Non-Exclusive Ecosystem

OVCC is designed as a multi-partner ecosystem. We work with different institutions, organisations, and service providers without granting exclusive control or privileged access to any single entity. Learners benefit from a broad, competitive range of options ,not a locked-in arrangement that serves a single commercial interest.

Partners Must Meet Compliance and Ethical Standards

Where a partner processes personal information on OVCC's behalf, that partner must operate under appropriate confidentiality, security, and legal obligations. We reserve the right to decline any partnership that does not meet these standards ,regardless of commercial value.

Partners are also expected to demonstrate transparency about how their own organisation operates. We do not partner with entities whose business practices present legal, reputational, or ethical risks to our learners or to OVCC.

What We Welcome

We actively seek partners who share our commitment to learner success and responsible practice. We welcome:

Tutors and academic support providers who deliver high-quality, ethical, and affordable learning support to learners.
Educational institutions, colleges, and universities looking to make their programmes more accessible and visible to learners making subject and career choices.
Organisations that fund scholarships, bursaries, mentorship programmes, or learner infrastructure initiatives.
Career guidance, workplace readiness, and skills development providers who can integrate meaningfully into learner pathways.
Technology and EdTech partners whose tools genuinely extend the OVCC learner experience without compromising privacy or independence.
Funders and investors who support OVCC’s mission without seeking influence over product decisions, data assets, or platform governance.
Any partner who can demonstrate transparent practices, measurable learner benefit, and alignment with our ethical and legal standards.

What We Do Not Allow

The following are firm boundaries, not negotiating positions. No commercial proposition changes these:

The sale, rental, licensing, or unrestricted transfer of personal learner data to any party, under any terms, at any price.
Partnerships with organisations whose primary or secondary interest is acquiring or monetising OVCC learner data.
Direct marketing access to learners without OVCC review, approval, and appropriate consent mechanisms.
Unrestricted or undefined access to learner profiles, tutor information, or protected platform systems.
Use of learner information for purposes unrelated to the agreed partnership scope.
Any contractual terms that compromise OVCC’s independence, governance, or ability to act in the best interest of learners.
Partnerships that create legal, reputational, or safeguarding risk for OVCC users or the organisation.
Any engagement with a party that openly or implicitly questions or challenges OVCC’s refusal to sell learner data. This position is non-negotiable and non-revisable.

Our Data Commitment to Learners

We want to be unambiguous about this: OVCC will not sell learner data. Not for a high price. Not for a low price. Not through a structurally repackaged arrangement that achieves the same outcome under a different name.

The data that learners, parents, and institutions entrust to OVCC stays with OVCC. It is used to serve those learners ,and only for that purpose. No partner, investor, or commercial incentive changes this.

Any potential partner that raises questions about whether data might be available for purchase, transfer, or secondary use will not be considered for partnership, and the conversation will not be continued.

How the Partnership Process Works

We pursue partnerships with clarity and structure. Here is how the process works:

Initial Enquiry: A prospective partner submits a partnership enquiry outlining who they are, what they do, and what role they envision in OVCC's ecosystem. We review this against our principles before any further conversation takes place.
NDA Execution: If there is a basis to proceed, both parties sign a bilateral Non-Disclosure Agreement before any confidential or operationally sensitive information is exchanged.
Scope Definition: We define, in writing, the specific scope and purpose of the partnership ,including what data (if any) will be accessible, under what conditions, and for what duration.
Formal Agreement: A partnership agreement is drafted and executed. Where data processing is involved, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) or equivalent disclosure instrument is included.
Ongoing Review: Active partnerships are subject to periodic compliance review. OVCC reserves the right to suspend or terminate a partnership where the partner fails to uphold the agreed terms.
